Naysayers will spout the use of the tarot as "wrong", "evil" and even "demonic." But the truth is simple. The cards themselves hold no power whatsoever. When utilized as intended, the cards are merely a tool of connection to bring clarity and guidance to the seeker. The tarot cards are said to have been created in Italy as far back as the 1430's. They originated as a game, much similar to the modern game of bridge. Over time, people began to relate the images of the cards to universal themes in their own lives and would use them for storytelling. In 1783, Cartomancer, Jean-Baptiste Alliete, assigned divinatory meanings to them. Today, the tarot is utilized for divinatory purposes as well as guidance in one's personal life. When utilized correctly, the tarot should leave the seeker with guidance and peace of mind. Divination and fortune-telling should not be the only use of the cards. In fact, some tarot readers provide guidance and nothing more. While others ascribe their divinatory interpretations to the readings. Either way, when done right, the seeker should leave with a sense of purpose and inspiration.
Personally, my use of the tarot is to guide seekers onto their spiritual journeys. The cards provide rich insight into a person's life and are an effective way to connect people to the Universe (God), their angels and spirit guides. In working directly with my spirit guide, St. Michael the Archangel, I have found that my readings very rarely reach far into the future. They typically inform the seeker of just enough details to help them make informed decisions, as opposed to every aspect of their future. This is because knowing too much can certainly derail the Universe's plan and work against the seeker. An ethical tarot reader ensures this does not happen. As it could be detrimental to their client.
Next time you visit a tarot reader or pick up your own deck, remember that they're a phenomenal tool for connection. Utilize them for guidance and you will have inspiration and motivation in your toolbox. Now, what is YOUR card of the day?
Love & Light,
Aura
